“I was invited to take a course, but now I'm on your website and I don't have a username and/or password to login. What do I do?"
If you received an email invitation from someone within your organization to complete a course, you must follow the link at the bottom of the email invitation to create your user account. Your email invitation indicates that your organization has purchased a training package allowing them to invite users to view and take courses online as part of their group or organization.
To troubleshoot this, please return to the email invitation you received from your organization and click the link at the bottom of the email. This will open up the new account registration page of our website in a new browser window. Next, you will need to fill out the registration form and select the "Create new account" button. Once logged in, you should see your available courses in the left sidebar of your Dashboard listed under "My Online Courses".
“Where do I find my courses?"
Once logged into your account, all courses are found in the left sidebar of your Dashboard page listed under "My Online Courses". In some cases when viewing our website on a small browser window, the list of "My Online Courses" may appear at the bottom of the page below your role expiration information.
NOTE: The blue "Courses" button on your Dashboard only lists courses that are in progress or completed - it does not allow you to begin a new course. To begin a new course, you will need to navigate back to your Dashboard by selecting the "Dashboard" link in the left sidebar or at the top right of the page. Once on your Dashboard page, select the course you would like to begin from the list of "My Online Courses" in the left sidebar of the page.
“I'm logged in and trying to start a new course, but I don't see any courses listed."
Please note you can only begin a new course from your main Dashboard page. If you have selected the blue "Courses" button, you will need to navigate back to your Dashboard and select your desired course from the list of "My Online Courses" found in the left sidebar of the page in order to begin a new course. The "Courses" page only lists courses that are in progress or completed - it does not allow you to begin a new course.
“I cannot continue the training after the video.”
In order to proceed to the next step in the course, you must watch the training video in its entirety - meaning you must allow the video to run to the very end. Pausing or stopping the video prematurely will prevent you from advancing to the next step in the course. Please note there is a short pause at the end of the video (less than 15 seconds), but once the video runs to the end it will automatically advance you to the next step in the course.
“Which course am I supposed to take?”
The DCAC Training Center offers several courses on child protection. If you are a child-serving professional required to complete the course for a church, camp, school or other child-serving organization, then you are most likely required to complete the Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse – Full Course.
If you are a parent, seeking additional information on how to prevent abuse and talk about personal safety with your child/ren then you will want to view the Parent/Child Curriculum – Full Course.
“What is the ‘Test Only’ option?”
If you have attended a live, face-to-face training with a facilitator and require a certificate of completion, then you only need to complete a post-test to receive your certificate. If you have not received the invitation from your facilitator to complete the post-test, please contact them first. When you receive the email invitation and create an account on our website please be sure to select the “Test Only” option.
“I could not complete the course in one sitting; how do I resume a course?”
Once logged into your account, from your Dashboard page select the course you would like to resume from your list of "My Online Courses" in the left sidebar of the page. Next, select the appropriate step in the Course Outline (also located in the left sidebar of the page) in order to resume taking your course.
Alternatively, you may select the blue "Courses" button from your Dashboard and select the green "In progress" button to see a list of your incomplete courses as well. After selecting the desired course, you will still need to select the appropriate step in the Course Outline as previously mentioned in order to resume.
“How does my employer know I completed the course?”
If you were invited to take the course by your supervisor or another member within your organization through an email invitation, then your supervisor/inviter will have record of your course completion and test scores in their Organizational Score Report. However, it is always a good idea to print and/or save a copy of your certificate of completion to keep on file.
If you did not receive an invitation email and purchased one of our Individual Online Courses, you will need to print and/or save a copy of your certificate of completion and submit it to your employer. Individual Online Course users will not have access to their account once their 10-day access expires.
